Vertical Ecosystems:
Living Architecture and Sustainability in Mallorca
By Vertical Garden Mallorca – Alberto Trabado
Between the elegance of contemporary design and the urgency of sustainable ecological solutions, vertical ecosystems emerge: living walls that combine nature, architecture, and technology. At Vertical Garden Mallorca, led by Alberto Trabado, each project is conceived as a functional organism, with a design carefully adapted to the Mediterranean climate and spirit.
Much more than vertical gardens
A vertical ecosystem is not simply a plant covering. In reality, it is a complex, living system where plants, substrates, humidity, light, microorganisms, and structure interact. Therefore, we design so that each composition breathes, filters, regulates, and dialogues with its environment. In this way, functional microlandscapes are created that express solid design criteria while purifying the air, regulating temperature, and contributing biodiversity.
Our philosophy: integrated design, life, and function
At Vertical Garden Mallorca, we approach each space as a canvas for a living system. To achieve this, we precisely study key factors such as solar orientation, ambient humidity, foot traffic, construction materials, and the daily use of each location. Based on that analysis, we develop botanical solutions that respond to integrative design criteria, seeking spatial coherence, ecosystem functionality, and dialogue with the surrounding architecture.
Distinguishing design elements of Vertical Garden Mallorca
-
- Living architecture: Each vegetal structure integrates into the architecture, enhancing its lines, nuancing the light, and generating visual rhythm.
-
- Climate adaptation: We select hardy Mediterranean species with low water requirements and high capacity for environmental adaptation.
-
- Smart systems: We automate irrigation, nutrients, and maintenance to guarantee long-term sustainability.
-
- Exclusive design: Each ecosystem is unique; we interpret each project as a singular piece, suited to specific expectations and diverse contexts.
Featured project: OK Mobility corporate headquarters
One of our flagship projects is the vertical ecosystem at the OK Mobility headquarters in Palma. We designed a 130 m² green mural with species adapted to the island climate, a state-of-the-art hydroponic system, and interior planters that transform the work environment. As a result, we achieved a more efficient building, a powerful visual identity, and a tangible environmental commitment from first glance.
Transforming spaces, inspiring futures
In a world that demands beauty, functional design, and sustainability, vertical ecosystems offer a concrete, innovative, and necessary response. Therefore, Vertical Garden Mallorca is committed to greener urbanism, where every wall can become a lung, a canvas, or a refuge. Under the direction of Alberto Trabado, we transform architecture into life and design into an ecological legacy.
